Ganoderma lucidum(GL), a renowned medicinal mushroom has been traditionally used in Korea, China and Japan to promote longevity, enhance vitality, treat various ailments. It is referred as "God's herb" ancient China, cultivated extensively on sawdust wood logs response demand global market. Extensive vivo vitro investigations have elucidated the manifold metabolic activities of GL. found contain wide array biochemical compounds such fatty acids, triterpenoids, nucleosides, polysaccharides, amino proteins, enzymes, all which possess significant pharmacological properties. Triterpenoids polysaccharides from G. lucidum exhibited antiangiogenic, cytotoxic, anti-allergic, hepatoprotective, antioxidant, anti-hypertensive, hypocholesterolemic, hypoglycemic, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antitumor, immuno-modulatory, antihistamine effects. G.lucidum alongwith properties also certain limitations be addressed.
